Born
in the Netherlands, van den Anker
became an immigrant to Canada at age six. As an
adult, she spent consideralble time living
in Holland & Ireland. Currently she lives in Ontario,
Canada
and also has a studio in Co.Clare, Ireland.
In
1976, she became a Fine Arts Honour's Graduate of the Ontario College of
Art & Design, Toronto, Canada. She was also
the recipient of the "W.C. Forsyth Award"
for excellence in painting.
Van
den Anker wants dialogue
with issues concerning the human condition and
which she expresses by using
elements of abstraction and form. The
outspoken humanism of her paintings is ardent and
sincere and she deals in large strong statements
about society without the slightest hesitation.
The powerfully rich execution of the work
further testifies to her serious intentions. The
masterly use of colour and elegant brushwork in these paintgs command
the viewer to join her in a day of reckoning.
